What Is Canola Oil

What is canola oil? It comes from a plant called ‘Rape’, which is part of the mustard family. Canola is a genetically engineered plant made from the Rapeseed plant.  The plant Rapeseed is a poisonous weed and when this weed is processed, it can become toxic very quickly.

When it comes to your health canola oil dangers should be questioned.

What is happening by including this oil into our diets?  We are having continual health problems such as cancer, and if we feel we don’t have enough evidence now, I am sure we will see the damage in generations to come.

Best to keep your children’s diet free of this stuff, the only advantage this oil seems to have over other oils is the price.

This oil can deplete the body of vitamin E at an alarming rate, so for those who have health problems you may be wise to  avoid it all together.

Canola is in just about everything you buy from bread to dips.

The obvious reason why this type of oil is included into our food is money.   Just like the dairy industry and soy industry the canola industry is big business.

Instead of using this oil for cooking, stick to the safe and steady olive oil or choose from some of the other lovely oils there are for cooking.   Grapeseed oil is another healthy alternative.

Canola Oil Dangers

Symptoms usually take around 10 years to manifest. The oil can inhibit proper metabolism of foods and interfere with normal enzyme function.

The word Canola is a made up name, it comes from the words Canada and oil.  Some could be mistaken there may be a canola plant as there is an olive plant for olive oil and so on.

Canola Oil Ingredients

The oil produced from the rapeseed plant is Canada’s largest export, so it makes sense to pump it up as though it is good for our health.

It is also used for industrial purposes.

It is continually cultivated because it is inexpensive to grow and harvest.  Apparently even insects wont go near this plant, I guess the only thing it is good for is an insect repellent.

Personally I wouldn’t touch the stuff, especially since canola oil ingredients were never intended for human consumption in the first place. The way I see it, if there is a big question mark regarding something I put into my body, then I don’t put it in.

I am sure you remember the ‘mad cow’ episode, which took place in the United Kingdom during the 1980′s and 1990′s.  It happened because the cows were fed a mixture which also contained matter from dead sheep.

Now, sheep were known to suffer from a disease called ‘scarpie’.  The mixture the cows were eating were also sheep which had developed scarpie.  This was the reason for why mad cow happened.

What was not mentioned was rape oil was included in animals’ feeds during that time, and was discontinued.  The interesting part is, when rape oil was discontinued in animals feed, the disease scarpie disappeared.  This may not be scientifically proven, but it does make you wonder!

The Canadian and US Government watchdog agencies claim, this oil is safe to use.  Even though it is developed from the poisonous rapeseed, through genetic engineering it is deemed ‘safe’ for human consumption.

Hence its new name Canola (Canadian Oil).

Many processed foods now contain this oil and many products which contained peanut oil, are being replaced with this oil.  When you see vegetable oil listed as an ingredient, it usually means canola.

This type of oil is a trans fatty acid known to have a link to cancer.  Trans fatty acids are labeled as hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils, so obviously canola oil ingredients should be avoided.

What is canola oil?  Something to seriously avoid.

I agree 100%. Canola should only be used for industrial purposes such as fuels.
Do you know if it is possible to buy bread without soy and canola

Always check your local health food shop, you probably wont find any bread without soy or canola in your local supermarket.

I wish the FDA would finally admit that GMO is no good.
Interesting call on the sheep being fed canola and then to caws to make Mad Caw Disease. Wonder if there are any other GMO fed related problems.
Its getting harder to be a non vegitarian.
