Peace of mind comes from not wanting to change others, but by simply accepting them as they are. True acceptance is always without demands and expectations. GERALD G. JAMPOLSKY

Types Of Food Additives

Avoiding the different types of food additives can help improve many health problems.

Have a better understanding about preservatives in food and what they can do to you.  All food additives serve a purpose, some are used to extend the shelf life of a product, some make the food more tasty, they are used to prevent spoilage and make the product easier to process.

There is a food law, and this law states that all preservatives are to be listed by their common or usual names on ingredient labels, although this usually means nothing to the consumer!

If a certain country bans a particular preservative, this does not mean it cannot be used in another country.

There are usually checks to make sure any food additives do not create any adverse effects.  Despite these efforts, many people suffer from reactions, and these can range from skin rashes, asthma, digestive problems, sleep problems, and hyperactivity in children.

Some preservatives in food which are banned in the UK, USA and Japan, are still being used in countries such as Australia.

If you are on the road to improving your health, enjoy looking after yourself, to keep you looking younger, then you may want to be familiar with some of the preservatives to avoid.

Just trying to put all natural into your body is a great idea,  yet sometimes it can be a little daunting unless you happen to live on a farm, and produce all your own food supply.

There are some processed products which do not need preservatives to give them a long shelf life.

These products  contain tomato, vinegar and citrus, as well as some salad dressings which are very acidic, and this prevents the growth of microbes (a micro organism too small to be seen by the naked human eye).

Stick to fresh fruit and vegetables when you can, as some of these you can buy in a can or dried may contain preservatives.

Most wines and beers contain preservatives; if you enjoy a glass of red, check around because you can now buy organic wines.  There are some preservative free beers, now becoming more and more popular.

There are many health snacks that don’t contain any additives, preservatives or color what-so-ever. Products such as goji berries, are one which comes to mind.

If you do have a reaction to certain preservatives in food, and you intent to travel, make sure you are aware of the types of food additives being used in that particular country.
