Toenail Health

Good toenail health is very important, to help prevent toenail issues can be overlooked.

Nail fungus is the main cause for many hiding their toes, yet healthy toenails can be achieved.

Thick toenails, nail fungus and ingrown toenails can be embarrassing, and cause a person to hide their toes at every opportunity.

Your toenails will usually alert you to the prospect of something going wrong with your health.

Most of the time nail problems can be the result of the way blood is circulating around your body.  Poor circulation is a very common problem especially as you age, and this may cause  problems such as; deformed toenail problems.

Many nail changes happen because of aging, and with good toenail care, many of these issues can easily be overcome.

Constant wearing of high healed shoes, or wearing shoes too tight, may cause toenail problems.  It is always a good idea to wear flat soled shoes as much as you can, I always walk around the house with just socks on.

If you have any toenails curving down into the toe, be careful, this is an infection waiting to happen.  If this does happen, it can eventually let of a foul smell and it looks very unsightly.

If this has happened or you have a toenail which looks quite red, I have found rubbing an antiseptic cream into it will help clear it up before it gets worse.  Having a toenail health regimen, will help prevent this type of problem.

Toenail fungus is very common and some people can have this nail problem for years.  A good thing to do, as embarrassing as it might be, is to let your nails breath, which means, don’t put nail polish on your toenails.  On a sunning day, wear sandles and let your toes see the sun.  The sun is very good for helping heal this type of nail problem.

Ingrown toenails can be painful if left untreated, this is a usual problem prodiatrists help with.  Keep your toenails cut straight across and if you do have an ingrown toenail, sometimes it helps to cut a small v into the middle of the nail.

Healthy toenails is about eating healthy and taking the right supplements, to complement your anti aging regimen, because you want your feet looking younger too.

Thick toenails may be a deficiency in iron.

Low thyroid problems or poor circulation can cause brittle toenails.

If you are lacking in particular nutrients and vitamins, problems will show up in your toenails such as; Nails which split easily, are very weak, grow upwards (spooning), flat toenails, beau’s lines (horizontal ridges), vertical ridges can indicate arthritis, or aging.

The benefits of biotin in your diet is a great help for fingernails and toe nail health, and can easily be obtained from food or a supplement. Biotin will help weak and brittle toenails and can be of help if you have a habit of getting toenail fungus.

Many people who jog a lot may experience a black toenail, and can experience problems with their toe nail health.

If you notice an increase in the thickness of your nails, perhaps they are more bumpy than usual or look very pitted, then you may want to get it checked out by a medical practitioner.

If you have digestive problems, take a digestive enzyme, to help the body pick of the nutrients it needs to give you better toenail health.
