Remove Sun Damage

There are various methods available to help remove sun damage from your face.

In the quest for looking younger, many people will consider different alternatives for getting rid of facial sun damage.

Basically all of these procedures work in a similar way, by removing the upper layer of the skin so that new skin can grow.

Be aware these procedures for removing sun damage on face, can also make your skin more sensitive to the sun.

Microdermabrasion

Using this procedure you will have a fresher, younger look, fine lines and wrinkles will diminish as well as helping to clear any sun damage, acne scares and age spots.

This type of procedure is non invasive, non chemical and really quite simple, and straight after treatment you are able to apply makeup if you want to.

A spray of microcrystals is sprayed onto your skin to remove the outer layer of skin which is the dead skin cells.  This will also help with the production of new skin cells and greater levels of elastin and collagen to help improve your skin.

Microdermabrasion is a much gentler procedure compared to dermabrasion which is used for someone who has extreme sun damage and very deep facial lines and acne scars.

Chemical Peels

This type of procedure can remove sun damage in your own home, with the help of a chemical peel kit, or, you can choose to have it done  by a professional.  This is a very effective way, in helping to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage and blemishes.

Your skin is cleaned thoroughly removing any excess oils, and then one or more chemical solutions are applied and the higher the concentrations and the longer it is left on the deeper it will work.

There are different types of chemical peels they are; TCA peels, which can cause flaking and redness for a couple of days afterwards.

Beta Hydroxy Acid Chemical Peels usually the most common and good for oily skin.

Alpha Hydroxy Acid Chemical Peels which is a mild peel.

Phenol Chemical Peels which is very strong and will give you a very deep skin peel.

They are all meant to lift off the upper dead layers of the skin.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

This works by producing a highly concentrated beam of bright light, which travels in one direction and can be varied by its intensity and duration.  The light energy will pinpoint parts of your skin, to remove dead skin cells and stimulate cells to repair.

There are two types of lasers able to remove brown spots on face, ablative and non-ablative.

Ablative will remove a layer of skin, and the non-ablative will stimulate collagen cells and leave the outer layer of your skin.

Many have described it as a burning sensation.

Using a retinol cream on prescription from your Doctor can be very effective in helping to remove sun damage on face and hands.  Another cream you may consider is Hydroquinone cream which is also on prescription or you can buy over the counter.

You are also more susceptible to facial sun damage, if you are fair skinned and have light colored hair and prone to freckles.

To help prevent facial sun damage, always put on sunscreen before you go out, I make it a habit to use a moisturizer cream which contains 30+SPF sunscreen, and then I put on mineral makeup which is great for helping to protect your skin too.

Always speak to your doctor or a dermatologist first so you are very clear on what you want and have him or her determine how severe your facial sun damage is, and what the best procedure would be for you to remove sun damage.
