Red Wine Benefits
Red wine benefits can be included in your anti aging lifestyle, and like dark chocolate it is good for your health!
The calories in red wine are around 88 calories per glass, it is quite high if you are trying to lose weight. Yet, the occasional glass of red for health reasons is good.
If this is not your favourite drink, there are so many different tasting red wines out there, you are bound to find one which appeals to your taste buds, and you will be able to enjoy the health benefits of red wine.
That does not mean drink to excess, one glass 4 or 5 times a week, is all you need. And, always have a day of no alcohol.
One of the main ingredients is resveratrol, (it is a chemical compound found in certain plants, such as grapes) believed to have anti aging properties, and can lead to a longer life, and is also full of antioxidants.

Before you reach out to eat those red grapes you just bought from the market, keep in mind resveratrol actually oxidizes very quickly. It is in the fermentation process of red wine which retains this chemical compound and its unique capacities.
Not only is resveratrol regarded as a powerful antioxidant, it can also help the body burn fat and can be included into a person’s weight loss program, as long as this program includes exercise.
How does the body lose fat, if calories in red wine are quite high?
In a study on cells, it has been found resveratrol actually hinders fat storage by inhibiting pre-fat cells from increasing and prevent them from converting into mature fat cells. Remember, this does not mean drinking to excess, believe me, I have, and I put on a heap of weight, and the only way I got rid of it, was to stop drinking wine for a few weeks. Now I am wiser, and only indulge a couple of times a week.
Drinking red wine for health in moderation will also improve heart health and circulation, help prevent cancer, heart disease and have a positive effect on cholesterol levels and blood pressure.
It seems the French have known something about red wine benefits for quite some time now. France is known for diets high in fat, yet they consume wine with meals, and have lower incidences of heart attack than anywhere else in the world!
There is no need to go out and spend a lot of money on a bottle of red wine, you can buy some great ones for under $10, I often enjoy the health benefits of red wine and have not spent a fortune. Check if your local bottle shop sells organic red, I have found a lovely bottle of organic not far from me, and for that little bit extra, it is worth it.
So drink up, relax and enjoy the many health benefits of a glass of red.
