Making Yoghurt
Making yoghurt is simple, very cost effective, and healthy as there is nothing else added, it is all natural.
How to make yoghurt is becoming very popular, so, if you haven’t tried it before, you will be surprised by just how easy it is. You can purchase a yoghurt maker, or you can make your own using a container or glass jar.
Is Yoghurt Good For You
Health problems such as; diarrhoea, constipation and inflammatory bowl syndrome (IBS) can be relieved.
Can help provide relief from stomach ulcers, by neutralising the acid that gives you so much pain.
Antibiotics will destroy the healthy bacteria in your digestive system, yoghurt is very beneficial in helping to replace this.
Will help the body fight a yeast infection, and can even be used as a vaginal douche.
Making yoghurt can be made from the milk of any type of animal. A cow (obviously the most common in the western world), but there are many countries where they will use the milk from a buffalo, sheep or goat .
If you happen to have a camel in your backyard, you can use camel milk, which is exceptionally good, as it contains no butterfat whatsoever! Making yoghurt can also be done with powdered milk.
There is some confusion over probiotic yoghurts and regular, it seems that many feel it is a marketing ploy, to get the consumer to believe that the probiotic is somehow much healthier than the average yoghurt.
There is live cultures in yoghurt regardless of it being probiotic or not. These cultures are called ‘lactobacillus bulgaricus’‘ and ‘streptococcus thermophilis‘, in probiotic yoghurt a third strain is added called ‘L. acidophilus’.
The argument seems to be with probiotic yoghurts, by the time it is ingested is no longer living. So whether you are gaining any additional health benefits from consuming probiotic is still questionable.
Don’t despair though, because if you are eating it no matter what type it is probiotic or not, your body is gaining the health benefits needed to help give you a healthy digestion system.
There is more protein in yoghurt than milk, it also contains calcium, vitamin A, phosphorus, thiamine, niacin and riboflavin. By eating it, you double the absorption of calcium in the body compared to drinking milk.
You can enjoy yoghurt in a variety of ways, it is great in a smoothie, include it in many curry recipes, enjoy it for breakfast with nuts and fruit, include it in soups and make dips with it.
It makes a great healthy breakfast, I often have it with raw, organic honey, fruit and lsa.
If you don’t want homemade yoghurt, buy a plain organic yoghurt and add your own fruit, honey etc. This is far better for you then buying a commercial one, laden with sugar and flavourings.
Is yoghurt good for you? Most definitely, and if you have the time making yoghurt can be satisfying and just as healthy.
