Face Masks Make Your Own
Nothing beats home made facial masks for wrinkles and looking younger. Masks are a very important part of an anti aging facial regimen.
Regular cleansing of your skin only removes surface dirt and grime, whereas a face mask will draw out impurities from beneath the top layer of skin, stimulate blood circulation, exfoliate dead skin cells, unclog pores and replace moisture and sooth the skin.
When you do this, your other toning and moisturising products will work much more effectively. Your skin is left feeling an overall firmness and softness.

There are many great home made face masks which can be made up. Over the years I have tried so many different face mask products, nothing beats making it yourself.
I now only put on a face mask I make myself, it is better for my skin, I save money, and never run out because I always have the ingredients in the kitchen cupboard.
Before the ‘wonderful world of chemicals and preservatives’ came to the forefront, women used all natural homemade recipes for their facial masks. You can be sure; there were no side effects as there is with some products on the market.
You can make your own great facial mask with many of the ingredients you have in your kitchen, and they only take a few minutes to make. By the time you have run your bath, your facial mask is ready to use!
Such as yogurt, fresh fruit, herbs, honey, oatmeal, eggs and many other various foods. In fact oatmeal is found in many commercial skin care products, and is highly nourishing and ideal for any face mask.
Eggs are great used in home made recipes, as an egg helps to sooth and heal the skin, moisturizing and refines pores, reducing fine lines and wrinkles. Eggs are very good for wind burned or sun damaged skin.
Honey is another great ingredient to use, it will help nourish, smooth and clean your skin. Is a natural antiseptic, cleansing agent and is known for its anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties, and good for aging skin.
You can use a home made facial mask for different skin types
My all time favourite face mask is this one; 1 tablespoon almond meal, I tablespoon honey and one egg white. Mix together and smear over your face and neck, leave for 10 to 15 min and wash off with warm water and a face cloth.
I love this one, only I don’t normally use almond meal, I use my L.S.A. linseeds, sunflower seeds and almonds mixture and I personally think it is better. You would have to try it yourself to see if there is any difference, my skin looks terrific doing this one. I think this would be great no matter what skin type you have.
Clay masks are great for oily skin – using Fuller’s Earth, which is a natural powered clay. Combine 1 tablespoon Fuller’s Earth and rose water, spread paste over face. Can use witch hazel if you have no rose water.
If you have oily skin try not to use a facial mask more than once or twice a week, as over use will cause your skin to produce more oil than usual.
- For normal/combination skin – mix 1/2 cup instant oatmeal (cooked) with teaspoon olive oil until smooth. Spread over your face and leave 15 min then rinse with warm water.
- For dry skin – mix one egg yolk, one teaspoon honey, one teaspoon olive oil, a few drops of vitamin E oil (optional). Smooth over face and leave on for 15 min, rinse with warm water.
- Aging and wrinkled skin - Mix 2 tablespoon oatmeal with 1/2 cup milk, cook gently until soft. Stir in 2 tablespoons olive oil and beat together. When cooled spread over your face and neck and leave on for 25 minutes, rinse with warm water.
- Aging and wrinkled skin – 2 tablespoons kelp powder (health food store), 1 egg white, 1 tablespoon honey, squeeze few drops of an orange. Stir ingredients, adding more orange if needed. Should be a creamy paste, leave on for 15 minutes and rinse with cool water.
Just compromise if you find you are out of some things. For example, one night I wanted to make a facial mask using oatmeal and I didn’t have any, so I put some oats in the coffee grinder and whizzed away, until I had a fine oatmeal.
If you want to make a face mask using oatmeal, maybe one of the recipes above, play around with the consistency.
