Enzymes For Digestion And Optimum Health
You need enzymes for proper functioning of the body, they are essential for absorbing and digesting food, and are necessary for life.
Enzymes turn the food you eat into energy, and they cannot be seen, but you know they are working by your blood and immune system. The body produces digestive and metabolic enzymes when needed, and stores surplus enzymes in the body until they are needed as fuel for the brain.
All cells need enzymes to function and survive, without them, you cannot breathe, swallow, eat, drink, and basically you could not digest your food. Enzymes help the body perform these tasks.

Your lifestyle choices are depleting your enzymes, such as; fast food, poor dietary habits, fat and sugars. These all require massive amounts of enzymes to help digest the foods. Add to that, stress which kills and damages cells, and results in the enzymes having to work overtime to help replace and rebuild them.
The toxic environment we live in is a huge factor also, as this causes cellular damage, which requires the enzymes ongoing help to maintain a healthy immune system. If our enzymes are not replenished, the body has a hard time doing the things it is meant to do, to keep us healthy and full of energy. Ultimately our life may even be shortened.
This is wonderful news, because now you can have a much longer life span, and enjoy continued energy. Understanding how your enzymes need to be replenished so you are not depleting them, can result in giving you back something you thought was about ‘getting older’. Now you can turn this around to getting younger, and of course looking younger.
There are a number of different enzymes in your gut and each of them has a particular task to do. Your body naturally produces two types; digestive and metabolic. Digestive enzymes help to break down all the food you eat, so it can be absorbed by the body. Metabolic enzymes help run all the systems of the body, from respiratory system to the nervous system.
Food enzymes can only be consumed.
Food (digestive) enzymes and what they do
- Amylase – breaks down starches.
- Cellulase – breaks down fibers.
- Lactase – breaks down dairy products.
- Maltase – breaks down grains.
- Protease – breaks down proteins.
- Sucrase – breaks down sugars.
- Lipase – breaks down fats.
Food enzymes exist in raw food, the cooking and processing of food destroys its enzymes. Of course, some foods need to be cooked, can you imagine eating raw meat, fish, or how about uncooked rice?
Continually eating cooked foods will destroy enzymes able to prevent these health problems
- heartburn
- indigestion
- bloating
- chronic fatigue
- heart disease
- high cholesterol
- intestinal & colon problems
- constipation or chronic constipation
So, you have a few health problems, and have worked out it is probably due to continually eating cooked foods.
You don’t want to have to give up your cooked rice, etc, so take an enzyme supplement. This of course is not a licence to indulge in the ‘wrong’ foods.
Your aim is to strengthen your gut, enzyme activity and improve digestive function, so all the other health issues can improve.
I for one enjoy my cooked foods; I love soups in the winter, and cannot imagine living on raw foods. I know some people live this way, but it is not for me. I do though, eat a lot of salads especially during summer, and I eat a lot of fruit. I take an enzyme supplement and have more energy now, then I did before I was taking it.
