Dark Circles Under Eyes
Tried everything you can think of to get rid of dark circles under eyes?
A simple lifestyle change and the right under eye cream will make a huge difference to your black circles under eyes.
Having dark circles can affect everybody at some time or another, although some of us are plagued with this problem all the time.
I have grown up with black circles under eyes, so I can certainly understand how you may feel! I have spent countless days searching for ways to combat this problem.
Healthy eating, lots of antioxidants, putting sunscreen around your eyes, getting enough sleep (at least 8 to 9 hours a night), drinking plenty of water and taking supplements has certainly helped make a big difference.
I have noticed a significant improvement by doing all these things, I definitely look lighter under the eyes than I did when I was younger.
Dark circles under the eyes can make you look at least 8 to 10 years older, they can also make you look stressed, tired or depressed. And if you are really unlucky you can look older, stressed, tired and depressed all in one.
- Some of the reasons why this happens can be heredity, (which I am afraid is my problem), tiredness, allergies, symptoms of an illness or fluid retention.
- Dark circles can also be thinning skin caused by the skin and fat padding under the eyes becoming thinner as we age, which causes blood vessels to become much more noticeable
- The sun can also make the skin under the eyes worse, because it weakens the skin. Other reasons can be an iron deficiency or dehydration.
- If the color under your eyes is a bluish color, it could be a kidney imbalance and a trip to a Chinese Herbalist could be the answer, persistent eye rubbing can also make the condition worse.
- I have noticed a significant improvement doing eye exercises.
You will need to work out which one of the above is causing you dark circles under the eyes, and once you have done this, it will be easier for you to treat the problem.
Besides diagnosing what is causing your dark circles, using a gentle eye cream is very important. There are many on the market and finding one that actually does what it says is not easy. I have tried quite a few over the years and not noticed a lot of difference.
A good eye creamshould contain vitamin K, vitamin C, and anti aging properties.
There has been some research on vitamin K, and it seems to help significantly with black circles under eyes and long term use is needed before you will notice any difference.
Play around with concealers for under eyes, you may have to purchase a couple before you find the right one for you. When applying a concealer, pat very, very gently under the eye.
Home remedies can help; almond oil is a good one, massage under and around the eye daily. I use cold pressed almond oil every night.
You can also do a search for ‘home remedies for dark circles under eyes’ and you will find heaps of sites with recipes to lighten under your eyes, don’t expect miracle cures from home remedies though.
Dark circles under eyes can be embarrassing, especially when someone is insisting you don’t look well, or you look tired when you feel perfectly fine and have had a good nights sleep!
