Caffeine Content Of Green Tea

The caffeine content of green tea is actually quite high, yet drinking green tea for health far outweighs its caffeine content.

Although having said that, the caffeine in green tea actually works differently in your body compared to coffee.  If you experience headaches and nervousness when drinking caffeine, you should not have the same experiences when you ingest the caffeine content of green tea.

The high antioxidant activity of this tea, makes it great for helping protect the body from oxidative damage due to free radicals, (molecules responsible for ageing, tissue damage and possibly some diseases). It also contains fluoride, yet the levels a single cup holds is really not enough to make much of a difference.

Green tea is made from unfermented leaves and they reportedly contain the highest concentration of powerful antioxidants called polyphenols, (a chemical that may protect against some common health problems and possibly certain effects of ageing).

A subgroup of polyphenols called catechins, is found in this tea.  These catechins are considered the most effective of all antioxidants, which is why green tea is gaining a lot of attention.  I know I can’t get through a day without consuming at least 2 to 3 cups.

One of the most powerful catechins is EGCG (epigallocatechin gallante).  EGCG as an antioxidant, and is about 25-100 times more potent that vitamins C and E, which is great news for your immune system.

It is also known to not only destroy cancer cells, it can help prevent some cancers.  EGCG can reduce LDL cholesterol (the harmful cholesterol); this prevents blood from forming clots, and will help guard against heart attacks.

Green Tea For Health can help with so many things, it is able to help reduce high blood pressure, improve blood flow, may help prevent tooth decay, contains anti inflammatory properties, help aid digestion and best of all, keep you looking younger.

With all the wonderful things it can do for you, it really is a good idea to make a conscious effort to drink more of it.

Drink caffeine in green tea (regular) and not decaffeinated, as the chemical process involved in removing the caffeine destroys the health benefits of the tea.

How to make green tea is easy, just chuck in an organic green tea bag and leave it there, or grab yourself some loose tea leaves, pop into a pot and pour in boiling water.  Allow to sit for a few minutes and then drink up and enjoy, I try to drink at least 3 to 4 cups a day.

I don’t like drinking a lot of coffee but green tea for health, well that’s another thing.
