Breathing To Lose Weight
Did you know breathing to lose weight can be done? Most of us do not breathe properly, and how to do it properly can do wonders for your health as well as help you lose weight.
Even more important than food and water is breathing, and how we do it. Breathing right can make a difference to how you feel emotionally, physically, the health of your skin, improving your energy levels and helping you to think clearly.
Below I have outlined a breathing exercise from this book, titled The New Joy of Beauty: Complete Guide to Lasting Energy and Good Looks written by Leslie Kenton. I have had this book for over 10 years.
1. Generally, we believe that our energy comes from the food we eat, yet it is air, and not food driving the human body.
This exercise will increase your lung capacity, help slim your waist line, cleanse your blood and help you learn to breath properly.
- 2. Rest hands on rib cage at the sides, just above the waist, breathe out completely. Inhaling gently through your nose, let your abdomen swell as much as it can, all the while slowly counting to five.
- Continue to breathe in through your nose for another count unto 5, this time letting your ribs expand and chest expand. (Don’t raise your shoulders).
- Hold for a count of five; then slowly let your breath out up to the count of ten.
- Do this 4 times twice a day.
There are many other exercises in the book; this is just one of them. I swear by this one, it has made such a difference to my waist.

Most of us breathe using our upper chest and this is not right, when done correctly you not only help the body take in more oxygen, it will also help you burn more calories, speed up your metabolism which in turn helps you burn more body fat.
Did you know, when we were babies we were all breathing correctly.
Your tummy should move out when you breathe in and go in when you breathe out. As you start to pay attention to how you are belly breathing, eventually you will get the hang of it and it will become a habit.
Exercising is another great way to help with your belly breathing, and help with your weight loss regime. Don’t solely rely on the breathing exercises to do it for you.
You have to eat right and do some aerobic exercise, even if it is a walk a couple of times a week. Make it a good fast paced walk, and you will reap the rewards to looking younger and breathing correctly.
